Wire Mesh Weight Calculator

Estimate wire mesh, welded mesh and stainless mesh weight by material, wire diameter, opening, panel or roll size for importers, distributors and project procurement teams before sending an RFQ.

Enter Mesh Specifications

Use metric or imperial units. The calculator converts all values to metric before estimating weight for RFQ preparation.

Best for welded wire mesh, wire mesh panels and stainless mesh. For gabion, chain link fence or perforated metal, please send the drawing or product photo for manual review.

Clear opening means the visible gap between two wires. The calculator adds wire diameter to estimate pitch.

Advanced allowance

Use 0% for theoretical weight. Use 1-3% when estimating edge wires, coating or packing margin.

How to Use

Choose the material, then enter wire diameter, opening or center spacing, panel or roll size, and quantity. If you only know clear opening, the calculator adds wire diameter to estimate pitch.

Formula

Total wire length is estimated from wire count in both directions. Weight equals wire length multiplied by round wire cross-section and material density.

weight = total wire length x PI x (wire diameter / 2)^2 x density

Example

For a 1 m x 2 m welded wire mesh panel, 3 mm wire, 50 x 50 mm clear opening, galvanized steel and 10 pieces, the tool estimates piece weight and total order weight for RFQ preparation.

Wire Mesh Weight FAQ

Is this wire mesh weight result exact?

No. The calculator provides a sourcing estimate. Final weight may change because of welding points, edge wires, coating thickness, tolerance, packing and production method.

Can I use this calculator for welded wire mesh panels?

Yes. Use the panel width and length, choose the wire diameter and enter clear opening or center-to-center spacing according to your drawing.

Can I use it for stainless steel wire mesh?

Yes. Select Stainless Steel 304 or Stainless Steel 316 so the calculator uses the corresponding density for the weight estimate.

Why can the quotation weight differ from the calculator result?

A quotation may include edge treatment, overlap, reinforced wires, coating, pallet weight, moisture protection and export packing requirements.
